ASK

As part of my thesis in Interaction Design at Sheridan College, I set out to design a digital tool that improves how people read on electronic devices. The challenge was to create an assistive experience that helps readers stay focused, overcome distractions, and reduce barriers that affect reading speed and comprehension.

SOLUTION

I developed the concept for Placehldr, a web plugin that acts as a digital placeholder across e-books, online articles, PDFs, and websites. The tool helps readers keep their place, increase fluency, and retain more information while reading online. To demonstrate the idea, I created an animated explainer video that shows the plugin in action, along with a website that presents its features, benefits, and use cases.

OUTCOME

The project resulted in a clear vision of how assistive design can support digital reading. The animated video and website together showcase how Placehldr could make reading more accessible and focused, while also serving as a professional portfolio piece that highlights my skills in UX, interaction design, and visual storytelling.
